Lauren on why quilts are important...“Quiltmaking can be an analogy for a well-lived life.  It requires the creative use of materials at hand to achieve a beautiful result that will warm and protect you and those you love.

Creating a T-shirt quilt is telling the story of the person who wore those shirts. Clients come to me for quilts to be graduation gifts, to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, to blend families at a marriage, and to work through their mourning after someone has died.  I feel it a privilege to be able to be part of  marking the important events in their lives.”

Ordering a T-shirt quilt

Custom Quilts Studio can create a quilt to mark your special occasion!  We produce high-quality work with a personalized experience.

How much does it cost?
T-shirt quilts are $40/square foot.  This includes an individualized top design, high quality fabrics, batting and threads, handguided machine quilting, a handfinished applied binding and a hanging sleeve.

25% deposit required when our contract is signed with the balance due on completion.  The customer pays shipping and cost of any extra services like photo transfer.  MD residents pay 5% sales tax.

How many shirts shall I provide?
The size of the finished quilt depends on the number and scale of shirts in your collection.  A lap size (60 x 60”) usually takes about 9-12 shirts while a king size (100 x100”) uses about 35 - 40.  Sizes vary slightly based on the motifs on the shirts.

How long does it take?
Allow 8 weeks from the time we start your project.  Each quilt is important to us and the studio schedule varies. If you need something for a specific date, contact us 4 to 6 months ahead of time.

We created this quilt for a longtime staff member at Camp Fantastic, a place for children with cancer.  He donated it to a fundraising auction for the camp where it raised many hundreds of dollars for this worthy cause. What a win-win-win project!
